HUNGRY FOR WINES?
COME TO THE 1st INTERNATIONAL WINE & ARTISAN FOOD FESTIVAL IN
MITCHELSTOWN
Ballinwillin House will be hosting the first International Wine and Artisan Food festival at
Mitchelstown from Dec 3rd to 5th, 2010. The Festival is being promoted by the Hungry Wines
company and is designed to bring together people from different international cultures to share the
traditions of Wines and Artisan Food in an authentic Irish setting.
Inspired by the atmosphere of the traditional Christmas markets from around Europe, it will be
held in a courtyard setting with Chalet units presenting a wide variety of Irish Artisan food and
European wines. The 2010 festival will be themed on Hungarian wines. Wine masters from
Hungary as well as wines from some of the most famous regions in Hungary including the world
famous Tokaj will be in Mitchelstown.
Visitors will be able to make their way along the festival’s wine tasting path, and explore lifestyle
exhibitions, take wine tasting classes in a wine cellar or grab a bite to eat at the wine barn food
court or from the various Artisan Food exhibitors.
Frenchman, wine enthusiast and festival co-organiser, Jan Blanchard said, “We hope that the
festival will present an opportunity for people to try something new, discover new wines, enjoy
local craft and artisan food. The festival is held on the first weekend of December and is a perfect
outing to kick start the Christmas season”
The Festival will be launched at an evening banquet with an Irish Celebrity Chef and Food critic as
well as Hungarian Wine Masters. During the festival, people are invited to book one of the 3
evening banquets on Dec 3rd, 4th and 5th. Each banquet has a specific theme including “Ladies
Night” and “Hungarian Christmas”. Banquets will be packed with good artisan food, great wine

Celebrity Food and Wine critic, Derek Davis, said “Hungary has a worldwide tradition of
producing quality wines which will complement Ireland's reputation for producing exceptional
artisan food.”
While introducing the diverse talents of Hungaryʼs top wine producers, the festival will also
showcase local artisan food producers from the Ballyhoura Region as well as other parts of
Munster. The festival will marry the two cultures in an atmosphere of fun and festivities.
The event takes place on Friday 3rd, Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th of December 2010, from 1pm to
